Matters needing attention in using reed switch

Lead pin forming (cutting or bending)
Or when cutting or bending the lead pins of the reed switch, extreme care must be taken to avoid damaging the glass-metal seal by applying undue stress. The proper clamping tool is the recommended distance from the end of the glass capsule when the pin wire must be used for shearing or bending, which is (the length of the glass capsule is 9 ~ 20 mm) at least 3mm, and that of the large reed switch (the length of the glass capsule is over 30mm) at least 8 mm. As the external lead angle is cut short, the AT (ampere turns) value of start-up and release will increase. Please consider this factor when designing. Similarly, the bending of the external leads will also increase the AT value.
Shock and vibration
When the reed switch falls from a height of more than 30cm to a hard surface (ground), its electrical characteristics (start-up, release, etc.) will be changed. After a reed switch falls, and before actual use, check and ensure that its characteristics are still within acceptable limits. This measure is also applicable to the case where tensile stress or torsional stress is applied to reed switch. Reed switch is not allowed to be used in places higher than its specified resonant frequency.
Magnetic mounting (welding and soldering)
When welding the reed switch pin wire, the electromagnetic field generated by the welding current can make the switch work, thus causing contact damage. Special protection measures must be taken when welding, considering welding current, voltage and time. Never solder two pins of reed switch at the same time.
When installing on printed circuit board (PCB), attention must be paid to the deformation and thermal expansion characteristics of PCB. The stress caused by these factors may also damage the glass-metal seal of reed switch. When installing the reed switch on the PCB, it is recommended to form the lead angle and leave a proper space between the PCB and the reed switch, or insert the reed switch into the opening of the PCB.
